of course my birthday would be the day that the power goes out, it’s 90+ degrees outside, and we’re in a declared state of emergency. it’s my party and I’ll die if I want to.

there was an obnoxious storm and the power has been out for like 5 hours and it’s fucking hot but it’s officially my birthday so happy birthday to me I guess
today at work the kids watched the first Shrek movie and I was sitting there thinking about how that movie is older than all of them. it’s so weird that they’re a post-9/11 generation. they’re going to think of 9/11 the same way that I think of the Kennedy assassination. it’s like a huge awful tragedy, they’ll know all about it, they’ll know that it’s bad, but no matter how many times their parents tell them exactly where they were when they first heard the news, they’ll never really feel anything.
I dont want to go to sleep I dont want to wake up at 6:30 and I dont want to go to work in the morning but I have to do all of those thingggggggsss

The Newsroom shows a lot of promise and hopefully it’s just a show that takes a few episodes to find its right groove. The pilot was pretty average. Not bad, not great, just average.

I need to round up friends, pitch in funds, and take a day trip to Columbus, OH, because it is the closest city to us that will be playing Moonrise Kingdom. yes, I’m prepared to take a 3 and a half hour ride to a city I’ve never been to, watch an hour and forty minute movie, then take the 3 and a half hour ride back home. it’s that important.
